Tihm Watson was born in Chiang Mai, and from a very young child she grew up with the understanding of Thai Massage. She would work on grandparents and other family members.

Though many Thai children grow up knowing how to do this massage, she had a special gift and interest, so she studied with a medicine woman in Chiang Mai, a city north of Bangkok. The woman taught her more about the traditional northern style Thai Healing that has been practiced there for thousands of years. With her, she also expanded her knowledge of Thai herbal medicine, which, like massage, is part of daily life in Thailand. She learned which leaves, roots, and bark to use for specific health problems and how to incorporate them in Thai Healing Massage as poultices or teas.

Since the early 1970s when Tihm came to the United States, she has been dedicated to bringing this highly effective bodywork to the Western world and helping to preserve the traditional method. To that end, she returns periodically to Thailand to pursue advanced study with Thai Healing Massage masters at the Lek Chaiya Nerve-Touch Massage school in Chiang Mai and Lanna Handgong Traditional Medicine Hospital. She has also completed advanced training and certification at a Thai Healing Massage school in the United States.

Tihm has thousands of hours of experience in using the techniques of Thai Healing Massage to restore energetic balance. Her life’s purpose and passion is to share her knowledge and to impart her expertise through 'Tihm Thai Training'.

Tihm’s Vision

“I have been doing Thai Healing Massage since I was ten years old. In Thailand, where I was born and raised, massage is part of daily life. It is called “healing” rather than massage, which reflects its true purpose as a technique to rebalance energy, help maintain overall health. When my grandparents or other family members had a headache, body ache, or insomnia, they would call to me, “Come give me a healing.”

The western world today has recognized the value in massage and the healing that it provides through muscle manipulation and stretching. The techniques that I learned as a child and young adult were extremely valuable and provide gre at benefits. This is one of the valuable assets of my heritage, and my passion for massage has never left me.

I want to use my knowledge and expertise to train future generations and provide them with a firm foundation in the art of Thai massage. It is my passion to pass on this valuable knowledge to provide healing through the use of herbal medicines, massage and Thai stretching just as she remembered as a child in Chiang Mai.”
